Seeing Whistlejacket for the first time… I remember the first time my Aunty took me to London for a weekend of sight-seeing. With family friends in London, it was going to be a weekend of galleries and museums. I remember thinking how boring it was going to be, looking at boring old paintings. What I didn’t realise is that I would happen across my now favourite painting in the world, and one that would be linked to a life-long love of all things equestrian. The painting Whistlejacket. Whistlejacket is a painting by George Stubbs from 1762, of the racehorse owned…

Fitness | 25 by 25 and Starting my weight loss journey

Fitness | 25 by 25 and Starting my weight loss journey

25 by 25. This is my weight loss goal. 25lbs weight loss by my 25th birthday. So that’s around 16 weeks left. I’ve been carefully watching my diet and trying to exercise more. At the moment most of my exercise is coming from redecorating the house! A lot of hard graft getting the place cleaned, gutted, walls prepped for painting and then the painting itself. In the next few weeks, I’ll be moving in properly and then the Ikea furniture struggle will begin again! I decided it was time to make a big change when I realised that I had…

5 things I learned on todays’ bike ride

5 things I learned on todays’ bike ride

Today I finally got off my butt and out on my bike. I’ve been meaning to but I seriously struggle to get out the door. I’m trying to work on my self-efficacy over the next few months and especially on holding myself responsible for my own life and decisions. Part one of that journey: starting my weight-loss journey by getting out on my bike more often. I haven’t been out on my bike since 2017!! Whilst I was out on this ride, I finally had time to myself to just think. So here are a few things I learned on…

Say Hello to Teemo!

Say Hello to Teemo!

Hey there! Welcome to this very cute and fluffy post. If you follow me on any of my social medias you might notice I’m slightly dog obsessed. I’m forever retweeting and sharing some sort of cute animal video but dogs especially get me.  My personal facebook is the worst for it, most of the things on my timeline is me sharing videos of cute puppies or animal rescue videos.  I’ve always been an animal person, and dogs are definitely up there in my top 3. I just love the bond you can have with them and the sense of freedom…

Pushing past the procrastination- making time for exercise!

Pushing past the procrastination- making time for exercise!

Procrastination is honestly my biggest problem at the moment. I have so much going on right now with sorting my life out after graduation- flat hunting, packing and full time job hunting that I kind of don’t have spare time. However, I do seem to find the time to watch Netflix and TV everyday. I have a confession to make… I watch between 3 and 4 hours a day of Netflix or TV minimum at the moment. I honestly feel like a bit of an addict when it comes to TV series. Whilst spending a lot of time at home…

A Dene Day with Dora and Gem

A Dene Day with Dora and Gem

On Thursday I headed off for a walk with the two lovely labs that I borrow.  They are called Dora and Gem, Dora being the younger lab and Gem the slightly older.  Since uni ended I’ve been getting out and walking more, and trying to spend more time outside. So, we went for  a walk down to Jesmond Dene through a couple of other parks on a nice hour long walk. I love walking these two as they can be let off lead to wander and explore but also follow commands. It’s so much more relaxing walking a well-trained dog! …

Fitness Friday: BorrowMyDoggy & Bear

Fitness Friday: BorrowMyDoggy & Bear

Last summer I signed up to Borrowmydoggy so I could enjoy the summer a bit more by getting out and walking. Since then I’ve walked quite a few dogs and my recent little friend is Bear! Bear is about 20 weeks old now, a chow chow puppy and oh my goodness he is cute! (Don’t you think?) I decided I wanted to puppysit Bear and did some reading up on the breed as I’d never been around a ChowChow before. I’ve been sitting him for a few weeks now and decided I had to share him properly here on the…

FITNESS FRIDAY: MY POLAR A300!

FITNESS FRIDAY: MY POLAR A300!

When it comes to my weightloss story it has been full of ups and downs. I realised I needed something to help me consistently keep track of everything I was doing. Last year I upgraded to my Polar A300.  In 2014, I bought the Polar FT4 heart rate monitor in Pink and I reviewed it on here.  Having it changed my approach to fitness. Despite ups and downs, I definitely got out of the house more often and went to the gym more than I ever did before. But it wasn’t quite enough of what I wanted. I needed a…

My Fitness New Years Resolution

My Fitness New Years Resolution

Hello Everyone! Welcome back to my blog. I’m so glad that 2016 has finally come around. A chance to start things afresh and look towards new goals. I’m really glad that a lot of things began and ended at this time of year as it gives me almost ‘A New Start’. One such thing I want to focus on is my fitness and overall health. After a discussion over Christmas with family and my doctor it was clear I needed to make a change. I started off the new year weighing 228 lbs. This is far too heavy for my…
