THE WAX BAR : GRWM for the races!

This post was written in collaboration with the Wax Bar in return for reviewing their services. All opinions are my own.

The Wax Bar recently launched in West Jesmond and I was excited to see what they had on offer. After hearing from a couple of friends who attended the launch party about how good it was, I was intrigued to try their services…

Located right in the heart of West Jesmond, it’s perfectly situated amongst a busy student and family area of Newcastle. With a generous 25% off of treatments for students!

After speaking with the Head Therapist, Nicole who is also the brand’s creator we agreed on three treatments for my races look. Shellac manicure and pedicure and a HD brow treatment.

I wasn’t quite brave enough yet for their signature treatments- their Lycon waxing. I booked my appointments for the day before and day of the Races so wasn’t 100% sure if I wanted a wax but it is in my mind for the summer as soon as it’s time to head off on holiday!

The Wax Bar offer everything from eyebrow threading to to LVL eyelash lifts and their signature waxing services. Take a look here…

Shellac Manicure

I was very excited for my first ever shellac manicure. I had the loveliest girl doing my nails and we had a good chat throughout the treatment, it always makes it far easier when the staff make you feel comfortable!

I chose a nice light blue colour as I wanted something for spring and the treatment itself took around 45 minutes. Four days later and my nails are still in tact, no chips, no discolouration (I’ve had that before somewhere else and it is gross!) and I am now a convert to the shellac manicure! No wonder everyone gets them done! Professional looking nails for weeks!

In total the treatment took around 45 minutes and I was left with gorgeous light blue nails!

Shellac Pedicure

As I was wearing open toed shoes I decided it was a good idea to get a pedicure. I’ve never had one before and was a little nervous of someone touching my feet! However, it was fine and didn’t tickle so I was immediately at ease within the first few minutes of the treatment.

I decided to get matching nails and toes and went for the same colour. Your toes are treated to some cuticle oil and shaped and then to a few layers of shellac nail polish and topcoat. The treatment is the same procedure as with your manicure, the shellac is applied and cured by a UV light. In total the treatment took around 45 minutes and will last between 2-6 weeks- fantastic!

My toes have never looked so pretty!

HD Brows

Honestly my favourite treatment out of the three. My eyebrows have always been a sore point for me! They’re thin on the outer edges but thick in the middle and I’ve never really been good at plucking them into shape.

I was really excited for my HD Brow treatment as it does wonders for your brows. Another treatment that took around 45 minutes and was completely pain free! My brows went from unruly and badly shaped to dark brown and sleek.

It’s amazing how something as simple as getting your eyebrows fixed can help your confidence!

The treatment involves waxing and plucking your brows and then filling in your brows with product, and by the time I was finished I was so happy with them!

A huge thank you to the staff at The Wax Bar, very friendly girls who provide an excellent service. I will definitely be heading back sometime soon (especially with that 25% student discount!)

If you’re in need of a manicure, wax, or your brows done I thoroughly recommend heading on over to The Wax Bar.

The lovely ladies prepared me well for the races and I felt amazing throughout the day! A huge thank you to them!

If you don’t live in Newcastle, don’t worry, there are different The Wax Bar salons around the UK, check out their website to see where!
