Jamies Italian at Monument

Jamie’s Italian is one of my absolute favourite restaurants. It has an amazing menu, a gorgeous interior and is set in a prime location in Newcastle- slap bang in the middle of Monument!

Last Sunday, I did my Race for Life 5K and then we headed into the centre of town for the Newcastle Car show. A really lovely, sunny afternoon but we needed some food! With Andrew heading home from his visit the next day and with me running my first ever charity race, it was time for a nice meal out!

I love sitting waiting for a table to become available at Jamie’s. The interior is wonderful, cosy and it’s a great place to people watch in the centre of town. You can also buy food and cooking utensils from the mini shop at the front of the restaurant.

As a gold card member, I was offered some free tasters and free drinks. We both opted for homemade lemonade which was sweet, tangy and so refreshing given how hot it was! (A rare occurence in Newcastle!)

I adored my taster of Crab Arancini, and have already looked up how to make it at home. It’s on my list to order as a meal next time I go back.

For mains we opted for a good old-fashioned margherita pizza and Penne Carbonara. I adore Jamie’s Penne Carbonara, it’s my go-to thing to order on the menu everytime I come in. However, I need to learn to order the small portion as I can never finish the big one. It’s deliciously creamy, with crunchy pieces of pancetta strewn throughout.

I have to admit I quite like this massive painting on the staircase of Jamie’s, it adds that little something extra to the restaurant.

Our lunch at Jamie’s was just part of our day, if you want to see more, then have a look at my vlog of the day!
