January Favourites!

Hello all!

Welcome back! I am finally moved into my new flat and slowly starting to unpack.

Uni began again last week and I'm already receiving lots of work to get on with, which I am quite glad of so my brain will stop feeling like mush and I'll have something to do.

Lush Charity Pot Hand and Body Lotion

My current favourite moisturiser is my Lush Charity Pot. I absolutely adore this idea of buying pots dedicated to different causes.

ALL the proceeds of these pots go to the the charity on the top- all you have to do is pick one! For me, being anti-fox hunting is very important so last time around I chose this particular pot.

This product is self preserving and the shea butter does wonders for my dry hands especially in winter. My hands smell so good and feel so clean and fresh afterwards that I've taken to using it multiple times daily- something I rarely do!

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm

My Maybelline Baby Lips is my favourite lip balm ever. I used to use a Nivea one all the time, but it has a baby pink sheen which looks a little odd on me and never fully hydrates.

But the baby lips is now my go-to, I keep one almost everywhere as I constantly need one!

Primark Nail Polish

Unfortunately  I cannot see a name or a number on the bottle so we're just going to have to go with colour!

I picked this nail colour up as a quick purchase when I was putting an outfit together for a date and had no correct colour polish at home.

It has fast become a favourite of mine. I really adore having nude nails. It is a soft champagne with a pink tint.

It doesn't chip very quickly but it does need the odd touch up but it is perfect for wearing for just a day or two for a special event!

Illamasqua Nail Polish in 'Fragile'

I recently posted about this gorgeous colour! When I want to have something a bit more exciting going on with my nails this is the one I choose!

Especially when i'm doing a lot of uni work and spend ages staring at my own hand I'm quite happy to say this is my favourite colour to wear.

NYX Dark Eye Concealer in Fair

I only just recently discovered that NYX was available in Boots so I got a few things after hearing only great things. Unfortunately with pale skin most blemishes and problems show through- including dark circles. It is a perfect shade for brightening up my under eye area and it definitely makes me feel less self conscious about my under eye bags!

Rimmel Matte BB Cream in Very Light

I already adore Rimmel for making a foundation that works for my pale skin, but to have a BB cream that does too is perfect! I keep my foundation at home and my BB cream lives in my travel makeup bag for going to uni and for when I'm away. It's really light and has a good coverage, hiding my blemishes well and for once, a BB cream that isn't completely orange against my skin!

I love...Strawberries & Cream Body Spritzer

Oh I adore this scent! I first picked it up in Primark then after keeping it in my backpack for uni and refreshing myself whilst on the move, I decided I had to have more of it, as well as the bubble bath. It is a very sweet fragrance, perfect for quickly masking bad smells ( I keep one in my gym bag for the quick walk home!) It is also very cheap so I will be buying a lot of them in the future!

Why I do What I do...

Journalists often get a bad rap. It worries me all the time about the precarious nature of the job. A job that is somewhat shrouded in secrecy and even as a student I have no real clue of what my future 9-5 will be like. If it'll even be a 9-5! But whatever happens it will be so worth it as I'm putting my 2016 new years resolutions to the test, so that I can get the best out of my degree as I can...

My Fitness New Years Resolution

 Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to my blog. I'm so glad that 2016 has finally come around. A chance to start things afresh and look towards new goals. I'm really glad that a lot of things began and ended at this time of year as it gives me almost 'A New Start'.

One such thing I want to focus on is my fitness and overall health.

After a discussion over Christmas with family and my doctor it was clear I needed to make a change. I started off the new year weighing 228 lbs.

This is far too heavy for my height of 5"6!
This was me early on in 2015, about 205lbs, and I want to get back down to even this weight!

So I decided to not focus on the number of the scales when I start this. It has never really worked in the past. But focus more on having a list of good experiences and finding out what works and more importantly what doesn't for me.

However, I do need to pay attention to the scales and factor in a weightloss plan as well as generally just feeling better about what I want to do. So I downloaded the 'myfitnesspal' app and I plan to log my daily intake as well as exercise. January will be a test month, seeing what works and what doesn't.

As I'm still moving it's quite difficult to cook properly and exercise properly and I've been told I may not be in my new flat until the end of the month! So that means living out of boxes and packing everything back up again.

So here is what myfitnesspal has given me to do!...

10 lbs is quite daunting in a month but I'm going to try my best to aim for it! Especially since this month is hectic and a lot of things are nowhere near ready for me to be in a proper routine for losing weight!

Myfitnesspal is able to log my exercise as long as I put it in, as well as my water and my diet- so i'm hoping to see some positive changes in the future!

As for tracking my exercise, I'll be using my Polar A300 heart rate monitor watch. I've been using it on and off for months and I know for a fact it's made some positive effects on me. But I need to completely give into it, and work to beat it's goals as best I can. First step- finding the heart rate monitor in all these boxes!

This was a cycle I did last year which just proved that I can work out hard if i put my mind to it! 

I have signed up to my gym for a student membership, which means I can only go at certain times so I've improvised for my flat and got myself a small workout area set up! It means I can work out anytime I like and the stuff I'm too embarrassed to do in public, like body weight exercises, I can do in the peace of my own room!

Exercising is a real chore to me at this size but I can do it if I put my mind to it. However, my diet is a completely different story. It's really up and down, bad weeks followed by good weeks, plagued by takeaways and overeating. So the biggest revamp for me will be my attitude to food.

In my new flat, the kitchen is part of my room, something that stressed me out when I originally thought about it. Because the food is always there. Right in the room, I can eat what I want when I want and will probably get even bigger.

 But after thinking some more, it means I can cook what I want when I want and practice learning to cook. The fridge is small, perfect for a weeks worth of food at a time- so not only helping my diet but my budget too! The cupboards too have enough space for a week or twos food as well as my pots and pans, so I'm pretty pleased. 

I started my first week here off by doing a healthy shop to fill in the gaps around what I already had in the cupboards. I'm going to do my best to avoid buying things like crisps, chocolate or biscuits as I just wolf them down when i'm peckish then end up regretting it!

My first video of 2016!

I uploaded my first video of 2016! 
Yes I am staying on track with these new years resolutions, this one to be more active on my blog and my youtube channel! 

I'm so pleased with my new Canon 700D so I had to get started right away. Forgive me for the slightly shakey, wobbly camera etc I'm not really used to filming with it!

So I decided to film a beauty video. A lookback on my favourite products from 2015.

Once I looked back over my blog photos, I made a list of the ones that have stood out to me!
