My First Ever Race: Race for Life 5K!

Race day finally arrived! I’m so glad I signed up for it!

Yesterday, I went to Town Moor in Newcastle to run the 5K Race for Life! A gloriously sunny day with plenty of loud music, people in pink and such a happy atmosphere.

I had a bit of a problem getting there with the taxi driver taking me to the wrong place! I missed the start!!!

I was really annoyed about it but I got onto the start about 6 minutes late, and despite my current calf and knee injuries I did pretty well for myself. I got forced to sit and ice my leg which took 10 minutes off of my time but it did give me time to sit and enjoy the sun and all the fun that was going on on the route.

Half way round I came across this gorgeous doggy! I loved that people brought their dogs all dressed up for the walk- makes me wish I had my own to do it with! There were plenty of dogs running about in pink tutus and t-shirts and some people even ran in fancy dress! ( my particular favourites were the ladies who ran it dressed as crayons!)

My first 5K was all in all a great experience. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and I’m so glad I did it for a good cause! I’m currently planning to do another but to properly run run run! it this time after doing a ‘couch to 5K’ programme!

If you would like to sponsor me my page is here and if you do let me know in the comments 🙂
